laurie anderson is also so good at telling stories. in her film heart of a dog, she takes you on a journey through words - through her grief, through her childhood, her mother, her time with gordon matta-clark, her time with lou reed, her time with her dog, her time with 9/11, her time with the eagle circling, how she is willing her legs to wake up, willing her brother out the lake, willing her mother's love.

the ending to this film is lou reed's song turning time around. this ending brings everything back to the same level again - a bit like what the falling toads do in magnolia.
