it was only years later when i watched the film magnolia that i heard aimee mann had made the soundtrack.

such a good soundtrack to soundtrack such a good film

spoiler alert: that part at the end when all the toads fall from the sky is like maybe the best moment in film ever. it just feels like it neutralises everything. all the stories and the heartbreaks and the lives and deaths and the sorrow is all flattened. everything given perspective

it's like when it's mid-summer and hot and nice and then out of nowhere is a crazy storm, so much rain, so much thunder, lightening and you're just standing there like omg, this is mental, so much bigger than me, so much water falling, i'm getting so wet. and then afterwards there's such a calm, such a softness and a clarity to the world.
